During this leg of the Arctic Norwegian Expedition, we will attempt to sail completely around Svalbard. However, given the challenging weather and erratic ice conditions in this remote part of the world, it is not guaranteed that we will be able to complete the circumnavigation. This makes the expedition unpredictable.

Along the way, we make several stops at places of cultural, historical and environmental value. We will discover ancient whaling stations, abandoned settlements and impressive natural areas that take you back to the essence of Arctic life. With a bit of luck, we will also get the chance to spot iconic Arctic wildlife such as polar bears, walruses and whales.

Our programme during this trip

Embarkation

Embarkation will take place on Sunday 06/07/2025 in Longyearbyen, Svalbard, Norway from 17:00. We will let you know the exact location a few days in advance via our communication channels.

After you are installed, we will meet the fellow sailors over an aperitif and you can enjoy a light meal.

The programme

This 14-day expedition from Longyearbyen has two ambitious goals: reaching 80° north and, if conditions allow, a full circumnavigation of Svalbard. This is a true expedition in the Far North, where we embark on the ultimate Arctic experience.

During the trip, we have great chances of spotting the impressive Arctic wildlife, such as walrus, whales, and with some luck even polar bears. The rugged, untouched nature of Svalbard will surround us as we explore the remote and quiet regions.

All necessary safety equipment will be on board to ensure that the expedition is safe and responsible. We will regularly go ashore to experience the beautiful and inhospitable environment up close.

It is important to note that there will be no opportunities to disembark during this trip. We sail a lot through desolate territory where we depend on ourselves in everything we do, an expedition ‘pur sang’.

Disembarkation

Disembarkation is scheduled after breakfast on Saturday morning 20/07/2025 in Longyearbyen, Svalbard, Norway.

For whom is this trip suitable?

With our voyages, we aim to introduce beginners to sailing and the ocean on the one hand, and experienced sailors who want to do something different on the other. But of course, not every trip is the same... That's why we distinguish between heaviness and effort. That way you have an idea of what you can, should and should expect.

This trip has 3 icebergs

This trip is a true expedition in the High North, which is why we classify it with 3 icebergs. It means that this is no ordinary sailing trip, but a challenging one where we are going to be very dependent on rapidly changing conditions. There is no possibility of disembarking during this trip and we will essentially be at anchor.

The conditions during this trip can be considerably tougher than on regular sailing trips. The likelihood of rough seas and unpredictable weather is high, and participants should be prepared for challenging situations where comfort is no guarantee. This expedition level is only suitable for crew members who have previously completed a 1 or 2 iceberg trip, or who can demonstrate sufficient sailing experience to handle such conditions.

While the trip may involve moments of discomfort and exertion, at the same time it offers the chance to accomplish a unique feat. Sailing in this remote, rugged environment is an extraordinary experience, and completing a trip at this level is a wonderful victory both physically and mentally.
